Logo Jyväskylä InstituteJyväskylä Institute of Adult Education established in 1971, is providing vocational education and training for adults in Central Finland. In year 2006 the number of personnel was 264, number of students 8865 and turnover 19 million euros. The institute is part of the Municipal Federation of Vocational Education in Jyväskylä District, which is the largest provider of vocational education and training both to adults and youth in the province of Central Finland.  Jyväskylä Institute of Adult Education is providing vocational training and education in the following sectors: Technology and Transport, Business and Administration, Tourism, Catering and Home Economics, Health and Social Services, Culture Sector (Arts and Crafts, Audiovisual Communication).
The focus of the education and training is on competence-based qualification. As an institute providing over 130 sector based qualifications, it has wide expertise in offering tailor-made training paths for adults by recognizing and valuating their prior learning.

The Institute of Adult Education also offers various short term courses for instance in languages, It-skills, project management as well as integration training and preparatory vocational education for immigrants. It has taken part in number of regional and national projects which have focused on developing tailor-made learning paths for adults at work, taking into account the individual learning needs of adult students, finding personalised ways of completing vocational qualifications etc.
