Building the generating-word frame in Adult Literacy

Grundtvig 2
September 2004-July 2005

Summary of the project

The project arises from the need to have a didactic material adapted to the different situations of the adult persons who undergo a literacy process. That is, a material that could answer to Paulo Freire’s ideological postulates, being set in the present day context of the European Society.

The project intents to develop active methodologies that allow participants to express their objectives, needs and interests, shape their own learning program and systematise the selection of contents and generating words in the reading and writing learning process.

These needs detecting processes can be equally used in different languages and social contexts, however, the precision of the “generating words” will depend on the progression criteria required by each language learning progress.

The activities of the project will be carried out throughout a workshop, structured in two-hour six sessions, which will include the following topics:

The conclusions of each session and the process systematisation will be collected in a classroom diary. The project experience will be disseminate through a CD-ROM.
